Senior Accountant – Tax & Assurance

About the role

ASM Tech Solutions is hiring a Senior Accountant – Tax & Assurance to join a growing public accounting team in Warwick, RI. You will work directly with clients across tax, accounting, assurance, bookkeeping, payroll, financial reporting, and advisory services. You will manage multiple engagements, work with firm leadership, and provide guidance to junior accounting staff.

Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts.
• Prepare and review federal and state tax returns for individuals and businesses.
• Perform or assist with audits, reviews, compilations, agreed-upon procedures, and Yellow Book and Uniform Guidance audits.
• Prepare audit workpapers, schedules, practice aids, and supporting documentation.
• Analyze financial information, trends, risks, and opportunities and prepare management reports.
• Provide bookkeeping, write-up, payroll, and client accounting support.
• Assist clients with budgeting, forecasting, tax projections, planning, and financial reporting.
• Mentor and train junior accounting staff, review assigned work, and contribute to process improvements.

Required qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• At least 5 years of public accounting experience.
• Experience preparing individual and business tax returns.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and experience preparing financial statements.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
• CPA candidate or actively pursuing CPA licensure.

Nice to have

• Active CPA license.
• Experience with audits, reviews, and compilations.
• Experience with QuickBooks or other accounting platforms.
• Experience with UltraTax or similar tax software.
• Prior experience mentoring or training accounting staff.
